It is with great pleasure that Pastor, Elder Eric Thomas, the official staff, and the entire membership of the Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church announce our 100th Year Church Anniversary Celebration! With this being such a noteworthy accomplishment, we want to make this celebration second to none and we intend to start early gathering those that wish to be a part of such a great celebratory event.
Greater Harvest has a long tradition of service within the community throughout the years. Its rich history of feeding, clothing, and housing the poor began through the dedication of its founder Reverend Louis Boddie. The late Mayor Richard J. Daley, Sr. often hailed Reverend Boddie for his work in the Southside communities of Chicago. Hence, we believe that you will be proud to be a participant of sponsoring the church that will help keep this legacy alive and thriving.
As of now, we are working to pay off the mortgage by the church’s 100th year anniversary in April 2012. We have plans of expanding this ministry by acquiring a new building addition that would offer the opportunity to realize our vision of an education center, senior home, a larger banquet facility, and easily accessible church business offices. The church, at its present size is not enough to support the growing ministries within our congregation and it is our goal to enlarge our territory and develop a broader range of outreach opportunities within the community.
On Thursday, April 26th, 2012 at 7pm, we will start our celebratory weekend with a Banquet held at the Marriot Downtown Chicago—Magnificent Mile. On Friday & Saturday there will be a special musical concert and service which will be announced with more details as we come closer to the event. Sunday, April 29th, we will continue the celebration beginning with our Sunday Morning Worship Service at 11am, our Broadcast Service at 3pm, and our Night Service at 7pm. Special guests and additional information for all events and services will be announced via our Broadcast on WGRB Inspiration 1390 AM as information becomes available. Stay tuned.
The 100th Year Anniversary Committee is offering a great opportunity for you to sponsor the church at this great time in our history. We will be grateful if you will accept the sponsorship offer included in this package and help with our endeavors to celebrate this milestone with great success. Enclosed you will find a detailed sponsorship form with additional information concerning the anniversary. Your enthusiastic and active participation for the success of this mission will be appreciated. The committee will place the names or titles of the sponsors on a plaque in designated areas within Greater Harvest in which your name will be displayed as one of our generous sponsors.
